Wait a fucking minute.  Wasn’t this the same city not that long ago that was firing cop shop workers for leaking celebrity photos?  Case in point, Rihanna’s beating photos.  Ok, so domestic violence and drunk driving is not the same, but come on people, let’s have some privacy. 

Facebook is like a weapon.  You put it in the hands of people and they will kill themselves with it.  How many thousands of people (I’m making that number up, but I can’t be far off) have been fired or not hired because of what’s been posted on Facebook?   

You sit like a hermit in your single-wide trailer.  Some sweet poontang moves in down the road and invites you over.  The two of you get fucked up drinking 40′s and you crash your momma’s Gremlin on the drive home.  You get arrested and BAMM!  The slimebag polees post your mug shot on Facebook.  You’re momma’s pissed off, kicks you outta the house and now you’ve gotta find a job, but Mickey D’s won’t hire you because The Man put you on Facebook.   One single night of drunken carnal lust and your entire life is shot to hell because the fucking cops couldn’t keep a lid on it.  This is wrong, people.  It takes a certain kind of person to be a cop – a prick.

According to the article, “In California, nothing can prevent a police department from releasing photographs of people who’ve been arrested, and state law compels police agencies to make certain information available, including the full name and occupation of everyone arrested, along with a physical description.”

Yea, BUT.  A DUI is not like a child molester or a murderer.

The reason they want to post mug shots is purely for spite and humiliation.  Is that the way the justice system was intended to work?It does nothing to prevent a DUI.  Posting a mug shot AFTER the crime has already been committed is akin to getting earthquake insurance after your house fell into the San Andreas fault.  Once someone is already on Facebook, the damage has been done and at that point.  You think that’s going to prevent the dumbass from getting behind the wheel again?  Only this time, make sure you turn your face to show the bruises from the cop beating you got while you were too drunk to defend yourself. 

I’m absolutely do NOT condone driving under the influence.  Driving drunk kills.  But is this not law enforcement.  It’s bullying, plain and simple.  It’s something a teenage girl would do to piss someone off.  It’s nothing but a childish nee ner, nee ner, nee ner.

Well looky, looky.  Just read it in the paper this morning.  the story changed a bit, too.  It wasn’t the police department that wanted it.  It was some dick councilman on the Huntington Beach City Council.  The PD said it would “alienate residents”.  The city council shot it down.  Thank God some people have sense.
