Monday Morning Up and Down the Sacramento Valley

This morning’s Bee ran the gamut from WTF to downright dumbass.

Tomorrow RT bus fare is going up to $2.50 and they are eliminating bus transfer slips.  HOLY SHIT!  It’s been over 20 years since I’ve ridden the bus, but those transfer slips are like gold when you need to make another connection.  It’s going to cripple RT even further and hurt those who use mass transportation to save money in the first place.  Catch 22.  Dropping transfer slips?  fuckers

On the health insurance front, one reader says,

“‘Thou shalt love they neighbour as thyself.’ Do we believe this, or not? If we do not provide a health care plan for all of our neighbors, then we are just another generation of hypocrites.”

That is so out of context.  I can’t stand it when someone envokes the name of Jesus for some man-made bullshit.  God has NOTHING to do with the bureaucratic bullshit in the health care industry.  Oh, wait, here’s an idea for you, neighbour – why don’t YOU be the compassionate one and pay for some health insurance for me.  dumbass

And this one made reading the paper worthwhile this morning.  Regarding why it took 18 years to find Jaycee Lee Dugard.  (Actually, no one found her.  She was the one who walked into the cop shop.)  The reader says,

“…I think if Phillipp Crag Garrido had a marijuana garden in his backyard instead of a kidnapped girl and her two daughters, he would have been caught much sooner that 18 years.”

LMMFAO!!!  OMG, that’s a good one.  Right on and so true.

Annoying PayPal Pop-Ups

binaryI’ve had a PayPal account for trillions of years, ever since back in the day when it was x.com.  As of recently, I’ve been getting exit popups when I click the PayPal Logout.  That’s annoying as all hell.  I feel I lose control of my interent experience when that happens.  lol

Clicking the exit link this morning resulted in 4 new windows plus a Windows error popup.  I’ve been quintuple-popped.  One of the windows had a link to http://altfarm.mediaplex.com, a banner farm.

I Google’d “mediaplex altfarm” and there are a shitload of complaints going back several years.  I’m confused.  Is PayPal using Mediaplex to serve ads or have I been tagged and bagged by Mediaplex and Mediaplex is watching my ones and zeros and serving ads based upon them?

Has anyone else had to deal with this?  Leave a comment and share what you know.

In the meantime, I’ve downloaded a free spyware removal tool called Spyware Terminator.  I used to run a search tool bar called MyWebSearch on my old computer.  I know, I know.  It’s spyware, too, but I loved the search feature and keyword highlighting it had.  (I was little back then.  I like lights and shiny objects, too.)  When I got a new computer I installed it again, but it wouldn’t run on the new O/S and I had since forgotten about it.  McAfee scans my computer every weekend, but it never once found it.  It was the first thing Spyware Terminator found.  It was like looking at an old high school year book…Hey, I remember him!  LMAO  I opted for installing the ST toolbar, but took it off after an hour.  It slowed down my computer and I kept losing cursor focus.

Cash For Clunkers – Get All The Facts

The post below was a comment I received from DonateCarUSA.com in response to my post “Cash for Clunkers – Dealers Are Getting Rich“.  Due to the way formatting in comments squishes it all together in one large paragraph, I decided to post it here, instead.  Here it is…

You may have heard of the government’s new “Cash for Clunkers” program but do you know all the facts?

Friday, August 21, 2009 Update: Informed sources are projecting that the total $3 billion directed to Cash for Clunkers will be fully expended by Monday and the program will be winding down at that point. Some projections indicate that 700,000 new car sales, including a Cash for Clunkers component, are on the books or will be by Monday. There’s some talk of more funding for Cash for Clunkers, but with congress out of session until after labor day, that can not be immediate. Naturally, it will be some months before the car dealers themselves are fully reimbursed for qualified Cash for Clunkers purchases through the program. Continue reading
